In an interview with the Tehran Times, Sacco explained why he created the comic, saying that he was shocked by the events of October 7 and then even more shocked by Israel’s ruthless attack on Gaza, which right from the start seemed to be going to a very dark place. “I knew I had to respond, but I was still unable to gather my thoughts properly. It was the plea from a friend in Khan Younis who endured the relentless bombing that finally pushed me to put pen to paper. He told me, ‘Please lift up your voice,’” he added. The comic journalist stated that he prefers to report — going to a place, interviewing people, and letting them speak for themselves—but there was no chance to do that in this case, and there still isn’t. It is providing the bombs and diplomatic cover for Israel’s actions.” Born in Malta in 1960 to an engineer father and a teacher mother, Joe Sacco spent part of his childhood in Australia before moving with his family to the United States at the age of 12. According to a “state of credit card report” for 2025 from credit bureau Experian, 53% of Americans in a survey say they use digital wallets more frequently than traditional payment methods. To further incentivize mobile wallet usage, some credit card issuers offer bonus rewards when you elect to pay that way. But those incentives can go beyond just higher reward rates. In fact, mobile wallets in some ways are becoming an essential part of activating and holding a credit card. For example, they can offer immediate access to your credit line, and they can be easier and safer than paying with a physical card. From a rewards perspective, it can make a lot of sense to reach for your phone now instead of your physical card. The Apple Card offers its highest reward rates when you use it through the Apple Pay mobile wallet. Same goes for the PayPal Cashback Mastercard® when you use it to make purchases via the PayPal digital wallet. The Kroger grocery store giant has a co-branded credit card that earns the most when you pay using an eligible digital wallet, and some major credit cards with quarterly rotating bonus categories have a history of incentivizing digital wallet use. Stop & Shop and Hannaford grocery customers in the Northeast who were hoping to stock up before Thanksgiving are finding empty shelves due to a “cybersecurity issue” affecting parent company Ahold Delhaize. “Our teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue. This includes taking some systems offline to help protect them,” the Netherlands-based company said in a statement . “We also notified law enforcement.” Spokesperson Caroline Medeiros told NBC News that Stop & Shop stores and pharmacies are open, though they are out of many products, and are working to restock shelves. It’s just more bad news for the struggling supermarket chain, which announced this summer it would close over 30 underperforming stores . | Which states are affected? Stop & Shop currently has over 300 grocery store locations in five states. Here’s a list of them and the number of locations in each: Connecticut (83) Massachusetts (117) New Jersey (47) New York (93) Rhode Island (25) Customers and media outlets have reported that at least 27 Stop & Shop supermarkets in all five states have been affected, according to NBC News , although a Stop & Shop spokesperson could not confirm the number of the stores affected by the shortages. (AP) — San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy took part in some light throwing on Monday after missing his first career game because of an injury and the 49ers are hoping he can return this week. Purdy hurt his throwing shoulder during a loss to Seattle on Nov. 17. Purdy underwent two MRIs last week that showed no structural damage. But Purdy he felt discomfort after making a few throws at practice on Thursday and was shut down for the game at Green Bay on Sunday that San Francisco lost 38-10 . Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Purdy made it through the session without pain and will rest on Tuesday and hopefully be able to return to practice on Wednesday as the Niners prepare to play at Buffalo this coming week. “We rested it throughout the weekend hoping that would help,” Shanahan said. “He threw lighter today to see if that rest helps and the rest did help him. So we’ll see again, going through the same things we did last week. We’re going to let him rest all the way up to Wednesday. We’ll see how it feels on Wednesday and then we’ll take the exact same course throughout the week.
